Following a Turkish court case from abroad with UYAP

People living in Europe may want to check Turkish case information directly rather than rely only on updates from relatives. The UYAP Citizen Portal provides an official route to information you are authorised to access. Reading a file and carrying out an electronic procedural step are different functions.

These explanations provide general information and do not replace an assessment of individual circumstances.

Which files can you access?

The Turkish Ministry of Justice explains that Turkish citizens with a Turkish identity number can follow their own ordinary and administrative court cases and enforcement proceedings. This is not a public archive for browsing anyone’s case. A relative’s proceedings should therefore be distinguished from a case in which you are personally a party.

Separate signing in from signing a submission

The e-Devlet service UYAP Vatandaş Portal Girişi lists its available authentication methods. The official UYAP guide distinguishes viewing files and documents using e-Devlet credentials from filing a case or submitting documents, for which it specifies an electronic signature. Being able to view a file does not mean every function is available through the same login method. Check the portal’s current instructions for the particular action.

Keep a useful record of what you checked

Record the court or enforcement office, case reference, document title and date of your check together. With several proceedings, case references reduce confusion more effectively than a list of names. When asking about an unclear entry, identify the document concerned rather than sending account credentials. Describe what you saw and keep passwords and verification codes private.

Short questions

Can I follow my case while living elsewhere in Europe?

The official UYAP guide describes online access to a person’s own proceedings from within Türkiye and abroad. Account access and the information visible depend on authentication and the person’s authorisation in the file.

Does a document that will not open mean the case has disappeared?

That conclusion cannot be drawn from a display problem alone. The official guide provides technical document-viewing help and information about UYAP Editor for UDF files. A technical problem and the legal significance of an entry are separate questions.
